I always waffle between quick blogging little things I find, sharing them with people and the longer, more reflective pieces that I spend a lot of time crafting (aka Slow Blogging as talked about in the NY Times recently http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/23/fashion/23slowb...I think other services may end up becoming my means of quick updates to family and friends (Totspot, Wee Web and others) and I might evolve the blog into longer, more reflective piece. I kind of feel I am at a crossroads with this blog.

Y'know, I've also noticed that some of the blog posts that I've poured the most energy into or was the most proud of are often the very same ones that do seem to go largely unnoticed by our site visitors. And yet other, quickie fluff posts about trivial stuff have garnered dozens of comments.

I suppose it's just the nature of blogs...

We started our blog for much the same reason - to easily share info with our family & friends who're spread all across the nation - from Seattle, WA to Chicago, IL to Jackson, MS to Bakersfield, CA to Houston, TX and beyond.

But I also find our blog useful as a "brain dump" of sorts, where I can post entries more for my own future reference than anyone else's benefit.

I'm hopeful that our son will appreciate that we lovingly documented our adoption journey. We blogged daily during our extended stays in Moscow and tried to convey a real sense of what it was like to be there. Many of our relatives vicariously experienced the process via the blog and were really glad to be able to do so.
